On September 12th, 20 members and two guests left Calpe to join the Kontiki ferry from Alicante to Tabarca Island. We were very fortunate with the weather. Both crossings were beautifully calm and the sun shone all day.

Tabarca Island is the only inhabited island in the Valencian region and is very popular with tourists during the summer months but the return to school and home for many meant that the island was comfortably vibrant without being too busy.

Free time on the island and our travellers had the choice of exploring it’s historical heritage or sampling the fish dishes offered by the many cafés and restaurants. It was a very enjoyable and fun day away, however the ‘coach gremlin’ struck after the first drop off point and we were obliged to make our own way to the Hotel Ifach…many of us by the town bus!
