Cancer Care Javea is a charity dedicated to supporting local people in the Marina Alta and also the Costa Blanca, affected by cancer.
We work with professionals and experts to deliver care and meet the needs of people throughout their cancer journey. We endeavour to raise funds and distribute them where most needed. We collaborate with other charities and organisations, by working together we can provide greater help, hope and support to people affected by cancer. Our motto is:
Living for today with hope for tomorrow
It sounds simple – but it’s much more than that. Over the years we have developed deep friendships and a great sense of community spirit through charitable work and collaboration with other local charities. We have a dedicated family of volunteers who work unselfishly in all aspects of the charity. Plus the unending support of the community, individuals, the generous public and businesses that continue enthusiastically to sponsor and support us year after year.
We have developed our own “Lynwen” Cancer Care Nursing & Advisory Service.
As part of our aim to provide monies and help where most needed, we have had a vision to provide a nursing team, similar to Macmillan nurses, so that anybody who is suffering from cancer, or is close to the patient, can come to us for help and support.
We now have our own Lead Care Nurse who works with a team to help with communications between patients and local hospitals and with other aspects of care required before, during and after a diagnosis of cancer. We are proud to say that we have a growing list of patients who have now benefited greatly from this service since it started.
It has inspired our long-term vision to provide a service which guides as many patients and families as possible through the health system from diagnosis, testing, treatment and follow up care.
The ECMOR project was created thanks to the close collaboration between Cancer Care association of Jávea, the Hospital Marina Salud of Denia and the University Cardenal Herrera CEU
All monies for the project were generated from Cancer Care Javea and we will be eternally grateful that the generosity of all our volunteers, members and supporters helped to make this happen. We need your continued support to maintain its future and increase the funds available to increase the capabilities of the laboratory. Without your support it would not be possible to undertake the exciting path ahead.
any years of efforts and collaboration between all three parties were necessary to open the Laboratory of Molecular Oncology-ECMOR. Since its opening in November 2016, work has been done to fine-tune all the steps necessary to sequence tumors of patients of the Hospital of Denia in order to adapt the best oncological treatment to each patient.
The laboratory is equipped with a genetic sequencer of last generation that is responsible for analysing the mutations and genetic changes that are in the tumors and therefore select the most appropriate treatment for the benefit of patients, thus reaching a precision medicine.
