Fifteen U3A Calpe members enjoyed a guided tour of the Jardin de L’Albarda last Friday (28th June). Mostly first-time visitors, we were amazed at this hidden gem in an urbanisation near La Sella and Pedreguer. Our guide, the very well informed, humorous and patient Nicoli, led us from the splendid house through the various garden designs, each one spectacular in it’s own way, and explained the plan for the original garden and how it has been developed over the years towards the ecosystem and biodiversity that is working today. Last week (17th to 23rd June) was a busy one for U3A Calpe members. First on Tuesday we had a pre Wimbledon drinks party at Yodel. Plenty of wine consumed and much hilarity as members had to get together in teams for the quiz to answer ten questions about Wimbledon. Having had to meet new people in the teams people carried on with their conversations long after the quiz. The second event was Friday General Meeting, again at Yodel. The U3A Green Bowls group has been in operation for several years. It is very friendly. We meet at the Paraiso Mar Bowls Green (which is a public Green) on the Levante Beach. Most members who had not played before have become accomplished bowlers and are good enough to join any Bowls club. Please contact group leader for times and place. Cost is €8.00 per session. Coaching will be given to beginners on Thursdays if required. This gives members the opportunity to try Bowls without any obligation. Padel is the fastest growing sport in the world! Padel Tennis is a fun group activity played in doubles and suitable for people who have previously played tennis. Players are matched to opponents of similar abilities to ensure a satisfying game for everyone. We play Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 am and 11 am at Calpe Tennis Club. The classes are temporarily suspended due to incapacity of our teacher. This  activity is not exclusive to U3A members. No Floor Yoga Classes for people with reduced mobility. No Kneeling – No Lying – No Floor based postures with a fully qualified (UK) Yoga Teacher specially trained in teaching students with Arthritis – Replacement Knees/Hips – HBP and other mobility limiting conditions.
