HAVE YOU ALWAYS HAD A YEN TO WRITE? BUT HAVE NEVER GOT AROUND TO IT?
Perhaps you’d like to have a go at that novel we’re all supposed to have in
us, or to put your memoirs down on paper for your grandchildren? Or maybe
you’re a poet, and don’t know it?! Here’s a new group, Writing for Pleasure, that
might help you put pen to paper at last. Meeting monthly, the group works
together to encourage members to start writing, or, if they’ve written before, to try
something different and to develop their writing abilities still further. Having
worked on an agreed task or exercise at home, we share what we’ve produced
and discuss it, but always in a positive and constructive way. Usually we keep our
‘homework’ quite short, so that there is time to talk about the activity and each
member’s work, whilst feeding the ‘inner man or woman’ with coffee and cake!
Whenever possible, we set up workshops and talks by professional writers, and
others involved in the publishing business. We also like to organize ‘field trips’ to
suitable places of interest which might provide inspiration for future writing. We
hope this approach will keep the group’s activities fresh and interesting.
So, if you fancy yourself as the next Jeffrey Archer, give the group a try!
