Full details about this group are available on the website. However, recently, because of the lockdown in Spain, we haven’t been meeting as usual. It seems a pity that this should be an ongoing situation. So, for our next meeting, on June 17th at 3.00pm, we shall try to get together online, using one of the video-conferencing platforms, Zoom.
The U3A Committee have been using this method successfully. An email has been sent out to all group members explaining how the meeting will be organized. Please don’t worry if you aren’t familiar with this use of technology – we can provide you with an ‘idiot’s guide’ and/or a practice session to build up your confidence before the real thing.
For our piece of writing this month, as we move into a period of relaxation of the strict rules governing lockdown, it seems a good time to reflect on what we have all experienced during these past weeks of lockdown. Take your pick and use any format you wish – poetry, fiction, real-life happenings, comedy, an article, whatever. Write up to 400 words on any aspect of lockdown. Our online meeting will follow the usual pattern, so be prepared to read out your piece. You’ll need to email it to me afterwards though, so it can be circulated to other members.
The Committee are encouraging ALL our members to submit their lockdown experiences, in writing or as photos. The best submissions will feature on the U3A website and be used by Dwvid Stockton, our publicity organizer, as part of our regular publicity slots on local radio and in the local press. We may even produce an anthology – see a separate item about this on the website.
Needless to say, if anyone out there would like to join in with our group’s activities, please get in touch. You don’t have to be in Calpe – we can link up with you wherever you are at the moment.
